Sometimes you discover places you’d rather recommend only to a tight-knit circle of friends – for me, one such hidden gem is the Villa d’Epoca in the Maggia Valley, Ticino. This charming villa, dating back to 1896, exudes a special, tranquil atmosphere that immediately invites you to pause and unwind.

This small property, with its handful of rooms, feels almost like a lovingly run guesthouse: personal, cozy, and full of heart. You can feel this especially thanks to the friendly hosts, who welcome guests with great warmth and ensure you feel at home from the very first moment.

A real highlight is the excellent cuisine: prepared with great passion, regionally inspired, and simply delicious. Sitting on the terrace or in the garden with a glass of wine and enjoying the evening is practically a mandatory part of the experience.

Located only about 15 minutes from Locarno and very close to the crystal-clear waters of the Maggia River, the Villa d’Epoca is a wonderful starting point for nature, hiking, or simply spending a few relaxing days away from everyday life.

My personal tip: Anyone who loves small, authentic places full of charm, with excellent food and cordial hosts, should definitely make a note of this spot – a true “Geheimtipp” (insider secret) that you’d gladly recommend to good friends.
